After more than a decade in the snow removal business Josh Tichenor of Tichenor’s Lawn Care and Tree Service, added his first KAGE 2-in-1 Snow Plow and Pusher system to his fleet this year when he purchased a SnowFire system for his skid steer.

With more than 6 inches of snow falling in the Beaver Dam, Kentucky, region recently, Josh was able to put the SnowFire system to the test and was impressed by its versatility and efficiency – especially with cutting ice.

The KAGE SnowFire makes his 5th plow unit in his fleet, as his crew also utilizes three V-Blade plows on pickup trucks and another brand of box plow on the skid steer. He’s had good luck with his v-plows for the most part, but has not been happy with the performance of his other box plow – particularly on icy surfaces.

In looking for a snow blade for back blading around doors at a local Walmart, Josh discovered the KAGE system and liked the idea of being able to switch back and forth between the blade-only and adding the box when needed.

In his first time using the KAGE system, he was called in to plow a Walmart parking lot that had been driven on for 3 days following the 6-inch snow storm and said his truck plows were “worthless” on the snow packed ice.

However, the weight and design of the KAGE SnowFire system significantly outperformed the truck plows.

“The KAGE was so much heavier that it cut the ice 2-to-1 better,” Josh said, adding that it is “so awesome that I don’t have to take up extra space on the trailer.”

He utilized KAGE’s standard high carbon steel cutting edges for the lot and noted that the “process was phenomenal.”

“I really appreciate American products,” Josh said.
