In this video and article, you will see the importance of Kage’s unique pivot frame and king pin. These two features are the critical link between the machine and moldboard of the plow! Not every snow plow has a pivot frame or king pin. Many snow plows use the common, “A” frame technology, which is coupled to the moldboard with a small clevis pin. This “A” frame design, when affixed to the front of a skidsteer, presents many problems; sloppiness in and around the king pin area, breakage of the clevis pins, and wear and tear on the ends of your cylinders, to name a few. Kage Innovation designs and manufactures these two critical components of the plow, based on our field experience. We know the demands that you, the operator, put on our equipment!
The Kage pivot frame is uniquely designed for strength, visibility, and operator ease of climbing in and out of the machine. Unlike the “A” frames common to other brands, this pivot frame utilizes a single 4 x 6 x 3/8 thick tube as it’s backbone. This not only gives it plenty of strength, but reduces the overall width creating better visibility, and overall height, creating a nice easy ‘step’ into the cab of the machine. A single piece of grip tape offers the operator more stability while stepping up into the machine. This small but important feature is a testament to the attention to detail (ATD) we put into our manufacturing process.
More Than A Standard “A” Frame
The standard Kage pivot frame measures 31 inches in length. This is just right for most applications! Operators like Kage’s longer frame because it allows one to push the snow further back behind the curb without driving the wheels up onto the curb. The extra length also provides better visibility from the cab. For certain applications, however, especially for lighter weight equipment, you can choose Kage’s shorter, 25-inch pivot frame.
King Pin In A Snow Plow Pivot Frame
The king pin is the heart of the connection between the pivot frame and the moldboard. This can be a vulnerable area especially when backdragging but Kage has it covered with a massive 1 1/4″, greaseable king pin.
