Are Your Machine’s Quick Couplers Getting Stuck and Locking Up?
At Kage, we try to anticipate every problem the contractor might encounter and then correct the problem. One such problem is hydraulic pressure that sometimes gets locked up in the implement after it is uncoupled from the machine. When this happens it is very difficult to re-connect the couplers without bleeding off the pressure by loosening one of the hydraulic couplers. This is frustrating and time consuming. Now as a standard item at no additional cost, Kage includes “release under pressure” hydraulic couplers so that you never encounter this problem again.
Why Is It So Hard To Connect My Couplers To The Machine?
Have you ever tried to hook up your skid-steer implement, only to find that the hydraulic couplers won’t push together? You can push with all your might, but they just won’t connect. Most of the time this is due to trapped pressure on the side of the implement.
How To Release Pressure In Hydraulic Lines
In order to prevent this you have two options. One is before disconnecting the implement you must relieve the pressure. Turn the machine off, turn the key back to ignition only, disengage the parking brake, check your surroundings making sure everything is clear of your loader, then release the pressure by moving your loader levers. (Note some new machines have a feature that can bleed the pressure outside of the machine). This usually works, however if the implement gets bumped or jostled during your next hookup, that jerk to the hydraulic system can cause it to immediately lock up. Doesn’t this sound like a hassle?
