Reduce damage caused by snow plows. KAGE has a new patent pending laser plow guide system that conveniently attaches to any municipal plow truck. This system revolutionizes how an operator can see where the wing plow is going to be, in the direction of travel. Operators appreciate the ‘heads up’ it provides if the wing plow is going to encounter mailboxes and other obstacles along the way. Made up of a bright 12 volt laser light and switch, the system is easy to install and extremely low maintenance.

Reduce mailbox damage with the WingLine

Mailboxes are a necessity, but are always knocked down in droves by city plow trucks every time it snows. Snow plow damage to mailboxes is common, but is a source of contention between the resident and the city. City plows drivers have one of the most thankless jobs, and are often bombarded with complaints from their constituents about damage to mailboxes, blocked driveways, etc. Side wing plows are often the culprit (or the wave of snow coming from it). If mailbox damage could be avoided, while still plowing the roadways ‘curb to curb’ there would be fewer complaints, and residents may be much more likely to say ‘thank you’ if they don’t have to make a call to report another mailbox hit.

Reduce guardrail damage by installing the WingLine Laser Plow Guide

Guardrails are a necessity along roadways with steep ditches and drop-offs. Guardrails save the lives of countless people every year by redirecting runaway vehicles back onto the road and helping to avoid catastrophic collisions. If guardrails are compromised during a plow event, crews are urged to get out and repair them as soon as possible. Not only are the guardrails a huge hassle to repair, but they are expensive. One city in Maryland reports that guardrails cost $39 / linear foot to repair. Some of this cost and hassle could be avoided if the city plow trucks were equipped with the KAGE WingLine, helping to increase operator visibility and reduce damage.

Reduce operator fatigue and improve alertness

Plow truck operators are charged with a huge responsibility. They are often sent out in the middle of the night while the storm is raging on. Visibility is extremely low, and they are supposed to make the roads safe enough to travel on. Not only does the vehicle they operate require a class A license, but it has all kinds of gadgets reminiscent of your favorite star-wars space pod. OK, well maybe not quite that many, but there is a lot going on that the operator has to think about. This all takes a toll on the operator’s alertness. The last thing that you want as an operator is to have to stretch your neck into the passenger seat to get a glimpse of the wing out the passenger window. The WingLine projects a bright green line in front of the truck, precisely where the trailing edge of the wing plow will travel. Now the operator doesn’t have to guess where the wing plow is, or even guess if the wing plow is deployed.

Class IIIR Laser Module is maintenance free mounted inside the heated cab

The WingLine is unique in that it is designed to be mounted INSIDE the cab of the plow truck. No longer do you need to worry about the lens of the laser getting dirty or blocked by snow and ice. Simply mount the laser module behind the windshield wipers to the inside of the windshield using the heavy duty suction cup mounts. This also keeps the laser module warm and ensures optimum performance.

Automatic IP67 wing switch

The WingLine is equipped with a sensor that senses if the wing plow is deployed, or stowed. Automatically switching the laser on, or off, with the wing plow movement. Operators enjoy the friendly ‘green line’ reminder when the wing plow is deployed, and don’t have to worry about extra distractions when the wing plow is stowed.

Simple one-time installation

No complex electrical connections, this simple system plugs into your 12 VDC cigarette power source. Mount the laser to the windshield, and mount the sensor switch outside on the side wing.
