A snow box is another term for a snow pusher, snow pusher box, box plow, or containment box. It is designed to push the snow straight ahead. It generally consists of a steel moldboard with plates welded to the side. A snow box generally has a rubber cutting edge to protect the operator from the brunt force of impact. It either has rubber or steel shoes underneath each side panel.

What are the disadvantages of a pusher?

When it comes to snow pushers, they are designed to move in one direction. Unlike angle blades, the snow box cannot angle. So, your machine will need to do all of the maneuvering. In tight spaces, this is a challenge, especially when you have a 30,000-lb. machine.

Another disadvantage is that they do not have a steel-cutting edges. If they did, any time the plow hit an uneven surface, the operator and the machine would take the impact of it. The rubber is designed to protect the operator and the machine, but it cannot scrape as well as steel. Rubber cutting edges also will wear out faster than the steel shoes on the side panels. If your cutting edge is worn, your shoes will prevent the rubber from scraping the substrate.

Lastly, it is challenging to back-drag with a pusher box. Not only because of the rubber cutting edge but also because the side panels get in the way. Therefore, you cannot get very close to objects with your blade without hitting them with your box. A pusher box should be paired with an angle blade, which means you will need two machines at one site, or it will take you twice as long to get the job done with one machine. Not to mention how often you will have to get out of the cab to switch attachments when using one machine.

What makes for the best snow box?

The best snow box will solve these three problems. It should be able to angle, use a steel cutting edge, and have removable sides. The best pusher would have all the benefits of a snow pusher and an angle blade in one attachment. Why have two attachments when one could do it all? Why have two machines and two operators at a site when one machine and operator can do it all? The answer is simple; you wouldn’t! You would not send twice as much equipment and operators to do the same job as one could do in less time. So, what is the solution? The solution is the revolutionary 2-in-1 snow blade and pusher box combination, otherwise known as the KAGE system.

What is the KAGE system?

kage 2 in 1 system snowstorm on wheel loader

The KAGE system is a 2-in-1 snow pusher and angle blade combination. It has a cam lock bracket system that allows you to lock on the box or take it off when you tilt the blade at a certain point. This bracket system has a built-in float that allows the box to glide freely along the ground to ensure the cutting edge stays on the substrate. The KAGE allows you to do the job of two machines with one without having to get out of the cab!

With a sturdy box-form construction blade, you can back drag effectively and angle blade any time the operator chooses. Hook on the box, and within seconds, you have transformed your angle blade into the ultimate snow pusher weapon. Equipped with a 5/8″ thick high carbon steel cutting edge, the blade scrapes efficiently and effectively. This snow removal system also has 3 degrees +/- oscillation to keep the plow on the substrate at all times. These features ensure that you are getting the job done fast and efficiently. The KAGE is a tough blade and box designed to help your business money and save time! Check out this video to see the snow removal products that KAGE offers as of 2020! Since then, we added the SnowDozer. Take a look at the SnowDozer sneak peek video. (The SnowDozer is now available!)

KAGE has three snow plow models that have the 2-in-1 feature. These models are the SnowFire, SnowStorm, and SnowDozer. The SnowFire model is designed for skid steers, small tractors, compact wheel loaders, and telehandlers. KAGE’s SnowStorm is designed for wheel loaders ranging from 15,000 to 30,000lbs and mid-sized tractors. The biggest model, the SnowDozer, is designed for full size equipment. It works best on wheel loaders ranging from 30,000lbs to 50,000lbs and large tractors.

The AdvantEdge

If you are still deciding whether to make the jump and switch to the 2-in-1 system, the AdvantEdge cutting-edge system is an excellent option for your snow pusher. This cutting edge has thick high-carbon steel sections that move independently to contour the substrate. This cutting edge for snow pushers will allow you to scrape the ground better without worrying about causing damage to the operator or machine. The AdvantEdge is constructed to go over crowns and valleys in the substrate. Check out this video to see the AdvantEdge on a snow pusher! Watch this to learn more about the AdvantEdge!
