About the Shadow Blade Snow Plow System

The Shadow Blade system is designed to be a wing plow. This means that it can spread out on either side of the tractor to which it is attached. The wing approach offers versatility, particularly when it is paired with a front blade. The reach becomes more expansive and versatile in just a few steps.

The benefits? You get a much farther reach, and you reduce the “crab walk” effect that happens so often in plowing. Avoid plowing all the snow to just one side with an even approach. There are several other benefits and a variety of ways to put the blade system to use.

Thanks to its versatility, we call it the Swiss army knife for snow removal.

How the Shadow Blade System Works

The most common way to attach the Shadow Blade snow plow is on the rear of the tractor on a Cat II 3-point hitch. Most users prefer to have a front plow as well for the dual benefit of the initial plow and the follow-up with the wings. It’s easy to operate, increases your width, and improves your overall productivity. Talk about creating a total snow-moving machine!

While the wider swath is certainly one of the top benefits, the versatility of the wing design also provides solutions for plowing back banks and bench-winging snow along the curb or in the ditches. The design was custom-built to help increase efficiency for anyone using a tractor in the snow removal business.

The Shadow Blade wing can span out in either direction, making it versatile and customizable to your needs. The system is controlled through a joystick, with a swinging rotation from the Y-axis to the X-axis. You can control your angles with the joystick as well.

It’s a good idea to practice with the joystick and look through the owner’s manual to really get to know your equipment. The more you use it, the faster your plowing capabilities will become.

Top Features of the Shadow Blade System

When you purchase a Kage Shadow Blade, you don’t just get a blade that you have to figure out how to install on your tractor. It comes with the complete system. The features paired with the plow are what make it so unique, so let’s take a closer look at those features:

  • Joystick: Controlled with a simple joystick, you can easily raise, lower, and operate the blade as needed.
  • Transport Function: This function allows you to fold the blade out of the way, making it easier to transport and move around as needed. The blade folds in half and up so it limits visibility reduction and protruding components on transport.
  • Electric/Hydraulic Valve Circuit: The valve circuit runs the system. This sends your signals for the hydraulics so you can work flawlessly.
  • Floating Top Link: The floating top link allows you to float the blade up or down and run the blade with your pavement contours. This reduces the snow that gets left behind so you get more done and a more efficient snow removal.
  • Piston Accumulator Relief: The hydraulic piston accumulator helps to cushion the blade from impacts as you move. The blade angles backward when it impacts against an obstacle and then returns to place when the obstacle is cleared.
  • Locking Cylinder: A designated mechanical lock that prevents the blade from dropping, even if hydraulic failure were to occur, this is specific to the stowed or carry position of the blade.
  • Laser Guidance: This optional feature allows you to add a laser guidance system to keep you on track and avoid hitting obstacles with the wing plow.
  • Wing Extension: This optional feature provides an additional 18 inches of extension on the wings if you need it.

Benefits of the Shadow Blade Snow Plow

The features are what makes the Shadow Blade system work so effectively. But the system as a whole offers several benefits that make it a top choice for snow removal.

These are the top benefits!

  • Improve productivity by 20-50%
  • Wing can operate on either side
  • Easy to use and operate
  • Increase your width up to 50%
  • Attaches to a 3-point hitch
  • Works well when combined with a front blade
  • Highly versatile
  • Easy to transport from site to site
  • Built to last

This tractor snow plow was created to give you quick innovation and a dynamic design that is built to last. Thanks to the design and its flexibility, it even knows how to react when you make contact or run into something.

Testing of this plow system paired with a front plow results in cleaning up a large area in less time than it would take a 3-truck crew to complete.
